Songwriting and storytelling duo, Folks Like Them, have announced the release of their new single and lyric video “When I Pass.” The country single depicts the harsh realities and struggles of life as things to be appreciated and honored. With the one year anniversary of the global pandemic approaching, gratitude for all that life is and has to offer is essential. “When I Pass,” from their full length debut album, Our Places, is out now on all digital platforms, and the accompanying lyrical video will be available now!
Coming from a musical family, Allen passed his passion for music to his son Chris. The two had pursued separate solo music careers, each performing in countless bands. They united in 2020 to form Folks Like Them. Both Allen and Chris Kave combine their love for meaningful songwriting and country music to share messages about family, friendship, and community values.

I spoke with Alan and Chris Kave, a father and son duo that call themselves, FolksLikeThem. Their music is a relaxing and fantastic blend of Country, Bluegrass, Americana and Rock. FOLKS LIKE THEM RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘THE RIVER STILL FLOWS’ Back in December last year, fast-rising country music duo Folks Like Them wowed with the release of their debut album ‘Our Places’ and as we begin our foray into 2021 the father-son band have released their newest single ‘The River Still Flows’ which is lifted off the LP’s tracklist. The impressive track is the American country outfit’s very first release of the new year and signals their intent for global chart success over the coming twelve months with the crossover duo showcasing their effortless storytelling skills and blood harmonies throughout the offering. The standout lyrical story flows easily within ‘The River Still Flows’ and delivers a tale about the importance of finding quick little moments to recentre yourself and focus your mind on finding peace rather than constantly looking forward to the future or behind at the past. A beautiful reminder at the start of 2021. The discussion led to what happens to people on their life’s journey. “A father and son duo who each have a decade of experience under their wings that often entails writing songs for others, now Chris and Allen are making music as Folks Like Them, where their strong country ideas are fleshed out precisely on this 2nd EP.
“I Love The Backroads” starts the album with a memorable mashing of twang friendly country and spirited pop prowess alongside soaring vocals, and “Open The Door” follows with piano balladry, as sublime singing aligns with a powerful delivery.
The back half of the EP offers the playful and highly memorable “Keep On Growing”, where exceptional guitar playing complements the aching pedal steel, while “I’m With Her’, the EP standout, displays a lush and very thoughtful landscape of gentle beauty. “How’s She Doing” then finishes off the listen similar to how it started- warm, tuneful and rooted firmly in country, rock and pop.
